About us
In 1969 Don Hernán purchased this land. Over 64,000 acres of wild untouched nature, smack in the middle of nowhere. Little did he know that this was to become his life project.
The MIT graduate undertook the monumental task of conditioning this land for both cattle and local wildlife. Across the years he built over 62 miles of dirt roads that allow you to travel within the property. He managed to get 3 water supply lines working by gravity which provide water throughout the entire property to both cattle and wildlife drinkers.
He built "El Campo", which consists of a beautiful Mexican style main house, workers quarters, 3 warehouses and a paved 2,624 ft airstrip.
In 1993 Don Hernán decided to get rid of the cattle and exclusively dedicate the ranch to wildlife. Cattle feeders were turned into deer feeders, over 20 bird feeders were distributed over the property to provide corn for turkeys, deer and of course, although not intended for them, black bears. This effort and the commitment to keep hunting to a minimum, earned him the Presidential Ecology Merit Award in 2006.
You can ride, hike, drive or simply enjoy the comforts of the main house. Activities include swimming in our creeks, bow and arrow, target practice, horseback riding, mountain climbing, late afternoon and night wildlife watching tours, story telling and singing at the campfire or chimney, movie nights on rainy days and enjoying undisturbed time with your friends and family. We also offer limited turkey and deer hunting during the open seasons.
Internet connection is available at the main house and can be turned off, if so desired, to provide a more secluded and private environment.
Cerro Agujerado Ranch is a private and exclusive destiny, to visit you must be referred to us by one of our previous guests or any of Don Hernán´s family members.
